Regular Basic Course Modular Format Academy Module I
Class Description:
The Regular Basic Course- Modular Format Academy- Module I is certified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) and is presented in the extended format.

Module I consists of 450 instructional hours. Upon successful completion of Module I the student will receive a Certificate of Completion and up to 14 units of lower division elective credit and may apply as a Level I reserve or full-time regular law enforcement officer with a participating law enforcement agency.

Subject matter includes but not limited to: victimology, crimes against children, juvenile law and procedure, ABC law, patrol techniques, crimes in progress, handling disputes/crowd control, unusual occurrences, missing persons, traffic collision investigation, people with disabilities, emergency management, lifetime fitness, arrest control/defense tactics, firearms, interview and interrogation, and courtroom testimony.

Students will be required to have a driver’s license and a vehicle available for range travel.

Because this course is designed to provide practical hands on training in police tactics and weapon usage, participants in this course will engage in physically demanding classroom training exercises that include a risk of injury to the participants.

Legal Mandates:
Students will be required to physically exert themselves.  It is required that each student pass a medical examination for physical fitness and submit a DOJ criminal history clearance letter.
